Dylan Scott Pierce
Began sketching at the age of two; by ten he began a waiting list for commissioned original pieces. Dylan with the assistance of his mom began publishing his work at the age of eleven. Now at eighteen he is well on his way to becoming a legend in the world of wildlife art.
His exquisite detail and realistic depiction of wildlife truly reflects a passion for both watercolors and the animals he chooses to paint. Before the age of seventeen his inspiration came primarily from wildlife sanctuaries, zoos and parks all across the country.
Dylan embarked on his first African safari in the fall of 2003. During this 27-day experience he studied in detail and photographed the animals in their natural habitat. Dylan returned soon after for another five and a half week long excursion to Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and South Africa.
Dylan's paintings begin with diligent and exhaustingly patient photography.
Dylan has been in some of the most incredible situations imaginable for a boy of eighteen. He has received local and nationwide media attention. His work has been featured on QVC (April 2003- April 2004), profiled on National Geographic Today, Wildlife Art Magazine (May / June 2003), Teen People Magazine (April 2005), and many more.
December of 2004 kicked off Dylan's partnership with Busch Gardens and SeaWorld. Dylan is the Premier Partner for the conservation fund. All of the Busch Gardens and SeaWorld parks across the country will sell Dylan's art work along with products featuring his images, 15% of the sells will go to research and conservation. Dylan has also begun his own foundation to benefit wildlife organizations, the people of Africa and Autism.
Dylan has over come the challenges of a high functioning autism called Asperger Syndrome. His photography, his painting and his love and understanding of animals have been his therapy as well as his purpose in life. God made me the way I am for a reason and it can only be to help in some way. Im glad he made me the way he did, I believe it was a gift from God. Dylan says.
In spite of all the fame and attention that he receives for his work, he remains a soft- spoken, spiritual teen immersed in humility. His strong values and incredible talent make him a great role model for young America.

My favorite medium is watercolor. I have chosen the subject of wildlife because I love animals, they are beautiful and are very expressive which makes them interesting to paint. I believe that animals have souls just like we do, they are sometimes happy, sad, they hurt, they cry, they love, they protect, they get excited.
In my latest work I have become more detailed. Art to me should have no limits, it comes from your heart. No one should be conformed by any rules. I paint what I love and what I feel. It is very hard for me to communicate my feelings to other people....I do it through my artwork. In every piece that I paint goes my heart and soul. I try to capture the animals soul as I paint him, and in my animals you will see my soul as well.
Some of my favorite artists are: Daniel Smith, Bernard Poulin, Terry Lee, Terry Isaac, Robert Bateman, John Serrey Lester, Leslie Harrison, and Carl Brenders, although there are many more.
During my travels I visit a lot of zoos and have taken several long excursions through Africa. As I study the animals I photograph my subjects for reference. I am inspired to paint because of my love for animals and nature.
I feel that I have so many things in my mind that I want to paint and not enough time to do it all. I know that I will paint for the rest of my life, it is my passion. I have loved to express myself on paper from the time I was two years old. It is a God given gift that I will never give up.
My dreams are to contribute as much as I can to wildlife conservation, the people of Africa, help in researching autism, and to help people in any way that I can. I like to roller blade, mountain bike, and go to the beach. I love to spend time in Africa. |

In January 2005, an estimated 744,313 people experienced homelessness.
- 56 percent of homeless people counted were living in shelters and transitional housing and, shockingly, 44 percent were unsheltered.
- 59 percent of homeless people counted were single adults and 41 percent were persons living in families.
- In total, 98,452 homeless families were counted.
- 23 percent of homeless people were reported as chronically homeless, which, according to HUD’s definition, means that they are homeless for long periods or repeatedly and have a disability.
